Deinstallation of the ECU

Installation of the ECU

Chip/EPROM change

ECU = electronic control unit

Deinstallation of the ECU:

Important: Switch off ingniton first, best will be to take the key off !!!!!! Otherwise the ECU may get damaged.

Put the front seats forward and fold forward. Than lift the rear seat at the left side (driver-side), or remove it completly. Now the most difficult is done.

Now you can see the ECU mounted within the retaining panel. You unplug the large plug, to do this press the sheet metal latch to the side. This latch secures the large plug in his place. Next take off the pressure hose. Take a look that the small connection hose is still on the pressure hose and not on the ECU (as you see at the picture).

Now you have to remove the shouldered hexagon nut at the place in picture marked with a red circle. Than you can push the whole system backwards (direction engine). Maybe you need some power that the white plastic-clips get open. But now the whole system is released and you can put it outside of the car.
The rubber hose you see in the picture should not be there, it still should be on the pressure hose.
Now we turn the system (controller).

At least you had to remove the three oval head cross-notched panel srcrews, marked in the above picture with a red circle. The ECU is now released from the retaining panel and ready for dispatch.

Installation:

Important: Switch off ingniton first, best will be to take the key off !!!!!! Otherwise the ECU may get damaged.

Mount the ECU with the three srews at the retaining panel. Sometimes it is more easy to plug now the large plug and the rubber hose before you mount the whole system at his place. Make shure that the sheet metall latch will secure the large plug correctly. Now move the system in place and push it towards you. Install the shouldered hexagon nut to secure the retaining panel in his place. Now you are ready. Put the back seat at his place. Take a seat and enjoy the drive.

Change chip:
(this will be only necassary if you get somedays a cipupgrade or you like to switch to the origional chip)

You can't do this work without a Tx8 screwdriver. Only with this screwdriver it's possible to remove the ECU screws without dammage them. You should get this screwdriver in every good sorted shop.

First you have to remove the ECU like described above. At the side of the ECU with the plug the plate of the ECU is fastened with three screws.

Carefully unscrew them and put them at a place where you find them later again. Under those screws are little rubberseals. Most times these seals stay where they are.

Deckel drauf - fertig
